As an exact stitch by stitch replica of the original O Tab Sports Pants, this design by Levi’s Vintage Clothing offers a piece of history with a high level of detail paid to construction, finish and detailing. Made from 2 x 1 grey weft cotton denim, the silhouette offers a slim fit with a straight leg and mid rise with an elasticated waistband constructed with a visible elasticated panel on the inside secured by loopback stitches. A single button secures the waistband and underneath the fly has button closures decorated with a subtle embossed anchor emblem. There are no side pockets but instead a large single patch pocket on the right side of the reverse with a single button closure and a small woven Levi’s Orange Label tab to the left side. The legs have straight cut hems for a clean finish.
For SS20 Levi’s Vintage have delved into their archive to recreate a selection of styles that date back to the 1970’s and a particular event of the time has provided key inspiration as to which pieces have been selected. In 1975 the San Francisco Museum of Art celebrated its new name as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art with a fun-fuelled artist soapbox derby which saw Bay area artists sponsored to build elaborate cars that would then be raced down the 800-foot sloping path in John McLaren Park. As a proud sponsor, Levi Strauss & Co donated denim which was used as supportive banners to cheer on the racers.
